Cathodic Protection

Cathodic protection is a technique used to control the corrosion of concrete. It addresses the major problems with carbonation and chloride attack of concrete.

Cathodic protection involves embedding anodes within the concrete structure sacrificially or embedding anodes with a low level of impressed electrical current. This inhibits the electrical processes which are necessary for corrosion to occur.
